Robert C. and Helen Dix Scholars
Funded by a generous donation from Mrs. Robert C. Dix, the fund supports experiential learning such as internships. In honor of the Dix family commitment to journalism (the Dix family publishes many newspapers in Ohio including the Kent-Ravenna Record-Courier), the stipends will be given for internships either in journalism or in work that uses writing extensively.
Stipends of up to $2500 are available for any semester but the majority of the money is saved for summer internships. The stipend may be used in one of three ways:
- To serve as summer earnings if the internship is unpaid
- To supplement low income from a nonprofit organization or
- To provide travel or housing expenses for an unpaid or low paid internship
- Money may also be requested for supportive materials for an internship such as film or materials needed for the project.
To apply, please follow the Applications Procedures on the Funding Internships page. Applications must be sent electronically to the Career Center at by the published deadline which is emailed to all students. A faculty committee will read all applications and make the final decisions.
Examples of previous applications are available in the Career Center, and we are always willing to help you develop a strong application. Please contact the Career Center at ext. 5131.
