Welcome to The Quad!
It's early September and you walk by the Quad to find a large number of residents hanging out in the front Quad area, playing a very traditional Quad pastime- stick ball (or kickball). Residents not playing are sitting on benches and steps enjoying the close community that is the Quad. The Quad is actually comprised of 6 buildings: Peckham, Dean, Agler, New Quad, Gray, and Bancroft. The buildings were built over time, and now connect. The Quad is a close community, and one generally finds that most resident doors are open. The Quad contains two lounges, a computer cluster, one large, one small laundry room, five kitchenettes, an ice machine, and vending. The Quad is a twelve hour quiet area, meaning quiet hours begin at 9:00 pm and continue until 9:00 am on weekdays, and 1:00 am until 9:00 am on weekends.

Welcome to Agler Hall!
As the central building in the Quad, 31 residents, nearly all upperclassmen, enjoy living in a more independent environment. Agler singles are quite popular, and are received through a lottery in the spring semester. The first floor of Agler Hall is co-ed. Residents of this floor share their space with a cozy lounge which is, by far, the most popular study area in the building. Second floor is all-male. The second floor of Agler also houses the Quad office staffed by a Resident Director and Resident Assistants. Second Agler connects to the largest and primary lounge for the Quad, Dodge Lounge. The Resident Director for the Quad also resides on Second Agler. Third Agler is all female. All Agler rooms have one bed, one desk, one chair, one dresser, two closets, and one window.

Welcome to Dean Hall!
Dean Hall was built to connect Peckham and Agler Halls. Distinctive for its green hallway walls (Dean is Green!), Dean houses 70 students in double rooms. Three of four small singles are also available in the building. First Dean is all-male and is home to the computer cluster for the Quad. First Dean connects to First Agler, where a lounge is often the hub of late night studying. Second Dean is all-male and is the busiest of the four floors as second floor is the general walk-through area of the Quad. This floor is particularly popular for our upper-class men. Third Dean is co-ed. Fourth Dean is a first year floor for men and is substance free. Fourth Dean connects with Fourth Peckham (all women) to create our first year floor. Our first year floors have become increasingly popular with our first year students who want to live in an environment with their class-peers, yet still live in close proximity with upperclassmen. Additional programming occurs early in the fall semester to help get students connected with the college. All floors in Dean have loftable furniture (meaning all pieces are present to create a loft). Therefore, homemade lofts are not permitted on these floors. All doubles contain two beds, desks, chairs, dressers, and closets. All rooms except those ending in 74 (174, 274, etc) have one window, the rooms ending in 74 have two.

Welcome to New Quad!
New Quad has an interesting history! As part of the oldest sections in the Quad, New Quad was once the dining facility for the men on campus. That was quite a long time ago! Today, New Quad is a unique housing option for 29 upper-class students. All rooms are singles, triples, or quads. The area is so popular; there is regularly a waiting list to get in. All of New Quad is substance-free. Residents of New Quad sign agreements stating they will not bring alcohol, tobacco, or drugs into the residence hall. There are seven triple rooms, one quad room and eight single rooms available in New Quad, and the residence hall includes a kitchenette with a microwave, a double sink and an ice machine. Residents share a small lounge with vending, and a small laundry room (residents can also use the larger Peckham laundry facility). The two wings of New Quad are connected by a common lounge. All rooms have traditional (non-loftable) furniture (one set per resident). Single rooms have one closet, triples and Quads share two.

Welcome to Peckham Hall!
Peckham houses 102 students in double rooms on four floors. The first floor of Peckham is co-ed, first year student living space. The first floor also houses an Assistant Director of Residential Education. The second floor is all-women. The third floor is co-ed. The fourth floor is an all first year women floor. This floor connects with Fourth Dean (all first year men) and together form our first year floor. Our first year floors have become increasingly popular with our first year students who want to live in an environment with their class-peers, yet still live in close proximity with upperclassmen. Additional programming occurs early in the fall semester to help get students connected with the college. All floors in Peckham have loftable furniture (meaning all pieces are present to create a loft). Therefore, homemade lofts are not permitted on these floors. All doubles contain two beds, desks, chairs, dressers, and closets. All rooms except those ending in 95, or 96 (295, 296, etc) have one window, the rooms ending in 95, or 96 have two. Kitchenettes with a microwave and double sink are located on each floor. The basement of Peckham contains club rooms and the laundry facility for the Quad.

Welcome to Gray-Bancroft!
Gray-Bancroft is the oldest section of the Quad. Approximately six years ago, a group of students proposed creating a cooperative of students that would live together and maintain their own environment for a reduced single charge. At the time, second Gray was only being used for Weekend College, and conferences. Thus, the Housing Cooperative was born. The Housing Cooperative is located on the second floor of Gray. It is a very popular housing option comprised of 13 upper-class students that work together to clean their own environment. They also do not have a resident assistant. This is our most independent living option. Selection for the Housing Cooperative is highly selective, and occurs each spring. The first floor of Gray Bancroft is actually called New Quad. See New Quad for further information. All Gray rooms have a built in desk and dresser, and contain one chair, one traditional bed, and two closets. 202-204 Gray is actually a suite room. The bedrooms themselves are much smaller, but the two residents share a large separate closet, and a ½ bath. This room used to be home to the Housemother once upon a time! The third and fourth floors of Gray and Bancroft are reserved for students of Hiram's Weekend College and are closed to traditional students.
