Mission Statement
The study of psychology contributes to a liberal arts education by introducing students to the scientific method, to a body of knowledge about behavior and mental processes, as well as to the integration of theoretical perspectives. These activities lead to a better understanding of one's own and others' behavior, allow insight into a variety of perspectives, lead to a greater appreciation of and respect for others, stimulate intellectual curiosity, encourage personal growth and a feeling of social responsibility. Our department mission and goals reflect the guidelines set forth for undergraduate education in psychology by the American Psychological Association.
