SHANUA AND FRIENDS TO PERFORM AT HIRAM

The ensemble Shanua will give a free concert of Irish and world music at the Hiram Christian Church on Friday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m.   The group features Dermot Somerville, vocals, guitar, flute, and whistle, and Űlle Laido, vocals, harp, and keyboard.  They will be joined by guest artists on violin, viola, double bass, as well as Hiram College faculty member Paul Dreisbach on oboe and members of Holy Rosary Coro, Little Italy, Cleveland.

Shanua describe their music as “a rare and joyous combination: classical meets folk music in a multilingual setting…beautiful tunes, solo and choral songs in Irish, Estonian and English in novel and original arrangements.”  The Hiram concert will include selections from their 2012 recording Enchantment.

The concert is sponsored by The Hiram Community Trust and the Music Department, Hiram College.  Hiram Christian Church is located at the corner of Routes 82 and 700 in Hiram Village.  There is parking at the church.  For further information call 330-569-5294 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
